We had an easy start this morning since we never unhitched the truck and camper at Circus Circus. Our next destination was San Diego, California. Adam had a hard time finding a campground in the San Diego area so he booked us at the Escondido RV Resort which was a half hour outside of the city. Our drive to the campground from Las Vegas was 300 miles.
As we approached the California border we had to stop for an agricultural inspection. While we waited in line we were wondering if we would have to hand over any of our groceries. When it was our turn we were asked if we were travelling with any fruit. The only thing we had at the moment was bananas. The agent let us know that was not a problem and we continued on our way.

When we arrived at the campsite we immediately noticed the impeccable landscaping with colorful flowers and beautiful trees throughout. While we admired the narrow, curved, hilly streets they did pose a bit of anxiety as we knew we would have to navigate them to get to and from our site. Each site had it’s own concrete pad with a flower garden on either side set up like individual driveways one after the other. The site we were assigned was in the middle of the upward sloped road situated almost at the intersection of another street. I got out and directed Adam into the site which was not an easy feat. The branches of the Magnolia Tree hung down and were hitting the top of the RV while Adam was trying to back in. It took us a little while but we finally managed to get ourselves in.

We unhitched and it was already time for dinner. Adam had lived in San Diego for 3 months and had been back several times for other work trips. One of his favorite places, Stone Brewery, was about 15 minutes from us and he wanted to go back and have us experience it too. Adam and I each had one of their amazing beers with our meal. After we were finished we wandered around their gorgeous grounds outside for a bit before heading back to end our night ready to start three full days in sunny San Diego.
